HIDDENSPACETHE JOURNAL / A DESIGNER’S NOTE
ON JEWELRY & BECOMING

A life
in layers.

The pieces we choose.
The moments we carry.
The beauty that remains our own.

01 / THE BEAUTY AT THE CENTER

We become more.
We remain ourselves.

I think of layering as the way we become ourselves. The people we meet, the choices we make, and the moments we live through all become part of us.

We grow and change, yet I believe each of us carries an essential beauty that remains our own. When I design a ring and the bands around it, I think about that same balance.

02 / WHAT MY CLIENTS TAUGHT ME

A ring.
A moment.
A chapter.

At first, I thought of a matching band mainly in terms of form: how it would sit beside a ring and bring the design together.

Then my clients began telling me why they were choosing another band. A first anniversary. The birth of a child. A personal milestone. Sometimes, the memory of someone they had lost.

Those conversations changed how I understood layering. Each new piece could hold a chapter of someone’s life. That meaning became part of how I design.

03 / MY DESIGN PRINCIPLE

Every layer.
A little more
of you.

Whenever I add a band, I return to one question:

Does it bring out the beauty
of the ring at the center?

The silhouette may become bolder or more delicate. The balance may shift. But the center gemstone should remain the first thing you notice.

I want each addition to reveal more of what was already beautiful.

04 / THE HIDDENSPACE SIGNATURE

The beauty
in between.

I consider the proportion of every line and the contrast between small accent gemstones and the center stone. Just as important is the space between the rings.

That negative space is a signature of HIDDENSPACE. It lets each contour be seen and gives the center room to shine.

Knowing where to leave space
is part of knowing what to add.

05 / CHOOSING YOUR OWN LAYERS

Let it feel
like you.

I understand the pleasure of “more is more.” But I always come back to how the pieces work together—and what they mean to the person wearing them.

Notice what each band brings forward. Give the center room to shine. Let your collection grow at your own pace, choosing each piece when it feels right.

06 / A STORY STILL UNFOLDING

There is room for
the next chapter.

I hope these pieces invite you to reflect on your own layers:
the people, memories, and choices that have shaped you.
To appreciate what you carry, and to be thoughtful about what comes next.
